KEYSTONE STATE GAMES
YORK (July 24) Congratulations to Team Lion's Pride members for their high-powered performance at this year's Games. The team won 42 medals, including 21 Gold medals, 13 Silver medals, and 11 Bronze medals! We were 23-athletes strong at this regional event with two new representatives of the Team, Kate Loza, who earned three Gold medals, and Daniel Green,who earned a Silver medal. KARATE CAMP II
There are still some available spots left for WSAMA's July Karate Camp starting Monday July 26th to Friday July 30th. The camp runs from 9am to 12pm every day. Activities include martial arts, arts and crafts, games of friendly competition, and a demonstration performance by the campers at the end of the week for family and friends!

TEAM
LION'S PRIDE FUNDRAISER
WSAMA's Competition Team will be raffling a gift basket every month to raise funds to help with expenses incurred for tournament participation. The theme of July's gift basket is "Martial Arts" and consists of a month of free classes, one private lesson, a uniform and T-shirt, the book "Tao of Pooh" and more. The tickets are $1 for one and $5 for six. The drawing will be held Friday July 30th. You do not need to be present to win. Good luck and thanks for your support!

WSAMA'S SUMMER PICNIC
WSAMA's annual Summer Picnic is rescheduled for Saturday June 12th from 12:00 to 4:00pm at Seibert Memorial Park in Camp Hill off Bypass on Route 15 (Click here for park info). Sign up poster is up at the dojang. The use of the park's facilities including pool, basketball courts, etc. will be available to our students, friends and family. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

ADULTS CLASS PROMOTIONS
WSAMA's Adults Class Promotions are scheduled for Saturday June 12th. The Black Belt Promotion will start 8am. The Color Belt Promotion will start @ 10am. All promotion forms and paperwork should be submitted by Wednesday June 9th. Reminder: testing students should be in full uniform (i.e. gi jacket and pants with all patches and lettering).

"KARATE KID" DEMOS
The WSAMA will be performing demonstrations at local movie theatres for the opening of the 2010 movie "The Karate Kid" on Friday and Saturday evenings of June 11th and 12th. Demo Team Spitfire will be at the Flagship Cinema while Competition Team Lions' Pride will be at the Cinema Center. Times to be announced.

CAMP HILL (May 22) Congratulations to WSAMA's newest Black Belts (1st row wearing white): Megan McKinney, Sawyer VanEtten, Brennan Quigley and Jonathan Mumfert. Also, special congratulations to (1st row wearing black) Jessica Vergara and Colin Quigley for earning their 2nd Dan Jr. Black Belt. Many thanks go to the assisting Black Belts who made this day an especially memorable one for this group of young Jung Sim Do Warriors!!

SAM MIZRAHI BUTTERFLY RUN
DILLSBURG (May 16) Team WSAMA was on hand to support the Sam Mizrahi Butterfly Run. Team Spitfire performed a demonstration for the participants while members of Team Lion's Pride participated in the 5k/1 mile run. Sam was a WSAMA student and black belt who passed away in 2005 in a car accident. His father, Joe Mizrahi, is an active student and instructor of WSAMA. The money raised provides funds to the The Sam Mizrahi Memorial Scholarship, an endowment fund of The Sam Mizrahi Memorial Fund (a component of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities) which is used to assist students with college tuition expenses.

ARMED FORCES DAY
CITY ISLAND (May 15) WSAMA's Team Spitfire once again was invited by Master Fred Waters of the Institute of Self-Defense, to perform karate demonstrations throughout the day. Master Vergara and Spitfire parents assisted Master Waters prepare his "Redman Suit" as he educated and entertained the crowd with his unique self-defense approach!

HARRISBURG (April 3) Team Spitfire was invited to perform as half-time entertainment during the HARRISBURG STAMPEDE'S (professional indoor football) game against the Erie Storm at the Farm Show Complex. Their electrifying performance was matched by the Stampede's dominance over the Storm 55 -19!

This was the most participated tournament where 25 Team Lion's Pride athletes earned 66 trophies including: "18" 1st Places, "28" 2nd Places, "11" 3rd Places, and a Grand Championship trophy won by Clay Hazam! ARLINGTON, VA (Aug 7-9) Congratulations to Team Lion's Pride in participating in the premiere tournament circuit in the country (North American Sport Karate Association, a.k.a. NASKA), and competing against, literally, the best competitors in the world. Despite overwhelming odds, our delegation of athletes had respectable showings. LEWISBERRY (July 14) WSAMA's Teams Spitfire, Sparks and Lion's Pride combined forces performing a demonstration for the girls of Red Land's Cheerleading Camp. Our teams showed how cooperation and hard work can produce performers and competitors, regardless of their athletic endeavor.
